Photo: Eagle Creek Park

In celebration of the recent vernal equinox, I am posting a photo showing one of the last gasps of old man winter in Indiana this year. This year was the snowiest winter in Indianapolis. Ever. And I would say the coldest too (I don’t remember highs in the negatives before), though I don’t know if that is officially true.

I snapped this photo during a daylong hike in Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis. Although the temperatures were in the 60s, this winter has been so cold that the lake was still mostly covered in ice. The ice was only starting to recede from the edges of the lake.
