Photo: Entry to the Porter County Museum

Metal door at the Porter County Museum

Doors on older buildings can be so intriguing, inviting one in….and beckoning me to take a photo or two. This particular metal door enters into the Porter County Museum, which is housed in a brick building originally constructed in 1836, the same year the county was established by the Indiana General Assembly.

Was the metal door an original to the building that housed the jail at one point? Intriguingly, I have found modern-day photos of the jail. In every photo the door is different. And not metal. Where did this beauty come from?
