Impatience

I wasn’t supposed to be here.
I was supposed to be speeding on my way
To the next place I was going.
And yet…here I find myself.

Waiting.
And waiting.
Caught in the between times.
In limbo.
Unaware. Not in control
Of when this may change,
Of when I might be on my way.

Forced to confront my impatience,
I remind myself that even waiting is life—
The expected, the unplanned,
The uncontrollable.

I’ll wait.
There is nothing else I can do.
I stare at impatience
Throwing a tantrum.
Patience looks on with me.
And waits.
