Art favorites: The Yerres, Rain (L’Yerres, pluie)

Caillebotte’s Rainy Street, Paris beckons me whenever I visit the Art Institute in Chicago. So I wasn’t surprised that another painting of his called to me repeatedly at the Indiana University Art Museum.

The Yerres, Rain pulls you into the scene. You can almost hear the soft spray of rain on the water and feel it on your skin. I love the water reflecting the trees and the light. And the ripples that the rain drops leave.
