Art favorites: Winter Twilight

The receding winter sun got my attention. The crescent moon in the sky. The children on the ice. The painting evoked feelings during winter before the darkness descends at the end of the day.

I am not normally drawn to paintings of the Hudson River School, but the light in the sky and reflected in the frozen pond in Winter Twilight seemed somehow to be different, creating a sense of place that resonated.
