Complicity

“Silence in the face of innocent suffering is complicity in the act itself.” ~ James H. Cone, “Theologians and White Supremacy: an interview with James H. Cone“, in America: The National Catholic Review, 11/20/06

This sentence jumped out at me as I read the entire article. I was enjoying an exhibit of the art of William Schickel in the St. Meinrad library. A white binder laid nonchalantly by art works depicting lynchings. Sadly, the discussion of white supremacy in the article and this sentence seem very relevant today.
